The Crucible of Empire is a worthy sequel to The Course of Empire, but even better, in many ways. The human characters continue to be well developed, while the new Lleix aliens are wonderfully portrayed as a kind of Japanese traditional culture types who are stuck in a rut, so to say/5(67).
